How to Become a Connoisseur of Pleasurable Movement that Sheds the Weight

Say goodbye to the idea that you have to endure brutal, intense exercise to create the body you desire. That’s the masculine approach of “no pain, no gain,” and it only punishes your Female Animal. I promise you there is a better, more pleasurable way. A way that is sustainable because you enjoy it, and that’s the only way you’ll permanently shed the weight so that it doesn’t come back.

You have to consider: How is inflicting pain upon your body going to convince your Female Animal to cooperate with you to lose weight? How is the resulting stress going to help you burn more calories when you’ve triggered your metabolism into weight-gain mode? And how are you possibly going to sustain something you don’t enjoy?

It doesn’t work, and you will never make it work!

That’s why pleasurable weight loss takes a feminine approach to exercise that treats movement as an opportunity to cultivate a deeper relationship with your Female Animal.

We all need exercise – it’s good for us, and we feel better as a result of it – but it doesn’t have to be torture. Instead of pushing and punishing yourself, find the kind of exercise that speaks to you, ignites your curiosity, and is something you enjoy and can stick with.

Let me tell you a story about Mary Catherine, a client of mine who was a fitness coach in Los Angeles. Before Mary heard me speak about the feminine approach to weight loss at a live conference, she was faithful to the masculine approach of extreme diets and punishing workouts. And she was miserable.

She said to me, “Every time I show up at the gym, it’s me against my body, punishing myself for not being good enough.” You’ve been there, right? That was the only approach to fitness Mary Catherine knew and she would put her clients through the same regiment.

Mary Catherine was exhausted and had joint pain. Her hair was falling out, her nails were brittle, she had stopped getting her period, and she was weighing herself obsessively throughout the day. She wasn’t happy. Her clients weren’t happy. But she still persisted with the approach because she thought she was “supposed to.”

Her body was clearly sending her warning signals telling her to stop, all of which she ignored because she was stuck on the masculine approach of “no pain, no gain.”

When she heard about my feminine approach to weight loss and pleasurable movement, Mary Catherine felt a rush of relief. “Just hearing the idea that a feminine approach existed made me feel lighter,” she told me. “I assumed there were no other options for getting results than the hardcore workouts. I thought if you really want to lose weight, you need to suffer your way to it.”

I advised Mary Catherine to work out in her apartment with her favorite music and just dance. She later told me, “Working with my female body through dance made me just as sweaty as any gym workout. Except this time, instead of feeling punished, I truly had fun in the process.”

When you work with your Female Animal instead of against her, you’ll discover movement that is pleasurable, instead of exercise that is punishing.

Pleasure Transformation Tips:

  1. Change your mindset from punishing exercise to pleasurable movement.
  2. Investigate sensual forms of dance as pleasurable movement. Try a class in belly dancing, salsa, African dance, samba, hip hop, Bollywood dance, pole dancing or burlesque. What other forms of movement are you curious about? What would move your soul?
  3. Enjoy the pleasurable movement that is innate to the female body while reaping the benefits of fitness, weight loss and body confidence.
