Are your Friday night plans going to derail your weight loss plans?

You’ve made it to Friday. Well done.

“How’s your animal?” as I like to say, meaning how’s your body?

Are you exhausted, worn out, squeezed dry to the bone by the weight of the week, no pun intended?

It’s customary to let loose on Friday night and I’m wondering what’s your technique for doing so.

In case you’re curious what I’m up to, this week’s video blog reveals all… well, most ;P

Even if the culture tells you Friday night is the time to “get wasted” and you have up until now been known to do that with food and/or alcohol, there’s no time the present to start a new ritual.

What if you had a ritual than gave you the same benefits of over-eating or drinking — embodiment, sensation, relaxation and pleasure — without any of the dreaded draw backs — bloating, weight gain, hangovers and many more?

What if your deepest pleasure could be your trust-worthy guide and you didn’t second guess that voice for anyone?

I’m curious where that would lead you, how it would set the tone for your weekend and how that in turn would set the mood for your food and exercise choices in the week to come, and so on…

So leave me a comment with your ideal nourishing, pleasurable Friday night ritual that would enhance not setback your journey to a slimmer, more balanced you.

Enjoy this week’s video.

And have a beautiful weekend,

Love,
xo Jena

  1. I stopped drinking altogether bc it started to make me super sick. So my new Friday night ritual is all about MOI and getting the rest I need.

Sometimes that looks like taking a long nap, sometimes it’s just getting together with good, relaxed folks in a calming environment we all like. In other words, something that really makes me feel good… Simply because.

  2. Oh, for me right now, it’s all about a long hot bath! (with candlelight and classical music.) Then a big lovely salad, grassfed steak, a baked sweet potato with pasture butter, and, yes, a glass of red wine. Like Kat, tonight is “moi” time! Yay!!!

  3. I let my little daughter nurse me to sleep while I am nursing her to sleep at 8:30pm! Usually I get back up after putting her to bed but it is so nice to indulge in this sweet time and let myself relax and fall asleep with her.

  4. “Let’s get physical, physical, I wan’t to get physical, lets get into physical, let me hear your body talk, your body talk. Let’s get ANIMAL, animal, I want to get animal…… (Olivia Newton-John).

Last night I went to hear Olivia in concert at the Opera House in Sydney Australia. Wow, she’s still got it! What a way to spend a Friday night!

  5. When I used to work a Mon-Fri workweek, I used to take myself out on “artist dates” as Julia Cameron suggests in The Artist’s Way. I would spend Friday nights gloriously alone exploring the city: walking, smelling the night air, wandering over river bridges, journaling with a hot rose chai at this gorgeous Moroccan cafe, buying art supplies, exploring a bookstore, or whatever I felt like that night. It was a night of freedom and checking in with myself to see what I wanted to do – and then giving myself that gift. These days Saturday is my Friday, and lately I’ve been hosting small dinner parties with good friends at home. Or recently a friend and I held a Passion Party where we all got together with yummy raw treats, great music, a cozy all-red atmosphere and gave mini-presentations about our “crushes on life” and whatever is turning us on these days. It was fun and super inspiring!
