How To Eat Without Guilt (& Still Lose Weight)

I used to curse life for making all the delicious things I wanted to eat, be the same foods I wasn’t supposed to eat, because they were “bad” for my skin, mood or waistline.

Grrrr….was Mother Nature playing a trick on us when she made delicious cakes, pastries and pies, damning us to a life of conflict between what tasted good and what would do us good?

After years of massively overeating all of the above, and feeling damned indeed, and full of guilt, I learned what previously seemed impossible, how to eat chocolate cake and still lose weight.

In this video I’ll show you what I’m focusing on that allows me to hang out in one of New York’s most indulgent food emporium’s without stressing out or stuffing myself to the gills.

Give this technique a go and leave me a comment with what you notice is different when you eat the way I’m demonstrating.

Thanks as always for watching.

Yours, by your side in the pleasurable weight loss movement,

xo Jena

  1. I just want to say that I think this is great! Showing us that you too eat with Pleasure and are still healthy and slender.

  2. I loooooved this! I have been telling all of my clients about this concept and it works like a charm. I actually had one client loose 3lbs in one week because she was always so disconnected with her body when eating, after telling her about this…BAM, GONE!

  3. This is so reassuring and DElicious to see. It’s
in relaxation that we can enjoy our senses and pleasures
without fearing them, not in anxiety or through
deprivation; so simple, so gentle and so deep, that’s
Jena and her teachings. That’s why today I’m allowing
myself a real nap in the middle of an afternoon filled
with “I should do this” and ” I should do thats”!

  4. You’re right about the relaxing and enjoying it. I like to use (and teach others) a similar technique I call “the feast is in the first bite” (the first bite is always the best) where I lose myself in the flavor and textures of one bite to the point where I know a second bite could not compare.

  5. Such a great video Jena! I love this concept and have been practicing it myself. Just the other day I was craving chocolate… and after checking with myself per your last video and deciding it was really what my body wanted, I enjoyed it guilt free! And then the craving is satisfied and I feel great! Lots of love to you! xo

  6. Jena this is an amazing technique but I don’t think I have it down…The more I relax and enjoy what I’m eating (especially dark chocolate), the more I want more of it! It’s true when I eat fast, I miss how good my food is but when I slow down I just appreciate it even more. What does that mean?!

  7. I loved your video, Jena! You look so self-confident, and it looks like you are really enjoying this piece of chocolate without any guilt and with the conviction that chocolate will not make you gain weight!

  8. I’m with you Amanda. In fact for me, eating alone, slowly and with enjoyment means I eat even more! I only eat slowly and eat less when I am in company. For me, eating alone is all about giving myself pleasure and love, the love I don’t get from others. It is about loneliness & filling the emptiness in my life. Eating slowly under these circumstances does not affect how much I eat.

    • Hey Carol,

Thanks for sharing your experience. Fortunately, the act of eating slowly and with enjoyment sets the stage for your digestion being optimal, and your body to feel safe and good. What you’re pointing out is that when you are present with your food when you are alone, you are present also with a loneliness, so here’s a way to reframe that.

What if you never again had the experience of eating alone, because your experience was that each meal was eaten with your body, or with your “animal” as I like to say?

And while your desire for human company I completely relate with, and it’s natural and beautiful, at that same time, I know you can also enjoy a wonderful, relaxed eating experience, with yourself when circumstances require it, and not overeat but just eat the perfect amount for you.

There will be trial and there will be error, but keep experimenting and seeing what happens.

  9. WOW! I love this approach. It is about time someone attacked the diet industry and stopped the vicious cycle. Kudos to you, Jenna!
