3 Ways To Make Sure You Escape Yo-Yo Dieting For Good

Have you ever experienced a time when you just knew that things were improving for you?

It’s an inexplicable experience, as if everything around you, from the traffic lights to the lunch lines to your day at work, start mysteriously flowing in your favor.

As your Pleasurable Weight Loss coach, I want weight loss to flow to you, in this grace-filled way, starting today.

This is why I’m inviting you to investigate the top 3 indicators that your weight loss achievements, this time around, are going to be a huge success, i.e. permanent.

You know you’re on your way to slimming down for good if…

#1: You are connected to your body’s messages.

Your body’s what? Your body’s messages! Your female body is a sophisticated, highly evolved, living, breathing, female mammal. I like to think of “her” as an animal, one who has “her” own inherent wisdom, intelligence and special way of communicating with you.

When you are on the right track to getting slim for good, you are always tuned in to your brilliant body’s messages. You actively listen to her input regarding:

  1. Your appetite: Am I hungry at this moment, or just bored?
  2. Your food desires: What nourishing and delicious foods can I make easily available to myself?
  3. Your “knowing” sensations: I just *know* my relationship with ____________ is really weighing me down.

Your body instinctively knows what to eat to balance your weight. Extra weight is often her way of crying out for your attention and help.

Sister, you know you’re on your way to getting slim for good if you are relying on your body’s messages to guide you to decisions that will make you feel great, and  that’ll help you drop extra weight, for good.

#2: You eat whatever your body wants and lose weight at the same time.

This tell-tale sign makes me want to jump up and down! What a blessing that you, as a woman, have a body that wants to keep your weight in balance, and “she” tells you exactly how to do that!

Let’s take a moment to soothe the rumbling murmurs of a very common misunderstanding: “All my body wants is a cheese pizza and a large Coke. That’s not gonna make me lose weight?”

If this sounds like you, I invite you to ask yourself: does your brilliant female body *really* want to eat the same greasy, heavy foods again and again, every day?

If you pay attention to feeling how your body actually feels after eating these foods, and ask your body, is this how you want to feel, your body’s answer will likely be: no!

If your body is repeatedly craving the same heavy, “comfort” foods, she may be communicating her desire to receive her minimum daily requirement of pleasure, not the high-calorie, nutrient-poor food it appears at a surface glance that she’s craving.

Darling, you know you’re on your way to slimming down for good when you realize that your body instinctively knows what to eat to lose weight, and you listen to her subtle and deeply wise messages. Nature designed you to be an expert at being in tune with your body’s “slimming” wisdom. Remember, your body wants to be slim just as much as you do.

 #3:  Exercise equals fun.

When you are a Pleasurable Weight Loss newbie, this statement sounds 100% crazy. Exercise? Fun? Yeah right. But when you’re on the way to slimming down for good, you realize that exercise gets really fun!

Why? Because you make it fun. Long-lasting slimming is a consequence of having adopted exercise deliberately as a way of adding pleasure and movement into your life, not as a way of adding torture and mechanical movements that are “proven” by someone else to make you lose weight.

Here’s the kicker every woman going to the gym and secretly hating it needs to know:

Exercise you do not enjoy puts your body in a stress state, which causes it to hold on to fat, to not build muscle and to slow down your digestion. The stress state literally encourages the body to gain weight. Simply put, exercise you don’t enjoy is futile and even bad for you. (Note: Gym membership vendors will never tell you this secret, but I’m on a mission for it to be a widely known fact.)

Remember, you know you’re on the right path to the kind of weight shedding that lasts forever when you are authentically having oodles of fun while exercising, i.e. moving your body in wildly pleasurable ways.

Warning: If you are having so much fun exercising, you might even forget you were doing it to lose weight! It happens to the women in the pleasurable weight loss community all the time.

Before you jump further into these ideas, tell me this in the comments below:

  1. Which of the above signs came as a surprise and relief to you?
  2. What exercise, or pleasurable movement, have you incorporated into your life? (It’s never too late to start something new that will pleasure you.)

Yes! If you are having lots of fun exercising, listening to your body’s messages and eating whatever your body is asking you to nourish it with, the pounds you are shedding ain’t comin’ back!

By the way, do you know someone who wants to get slim, for good, and with pleasure? Make sure you forward her this post.

Believing in You,
xo Jena

  1. It was exercise! I have a more flexible daily schedule now, and I
am SO looking forward every day (or almost!) to taking my 20-minute walk.
Here in Spain, the streets in my lovely neighborhood are filled with
interesting things to see, people doing errands at the local shops
(like NYC, but smaller and more relaxed). I love feeling my body
move, the increased circulation, and the “high” I experience from
endorphins after. Plus, I feel proud of myself and slimmer as I do it!
Thank you, Jena, for helping us realize what is working, what is
pleasurable, and to track it for our motivation!

  2. I am a super Newbie. Im in my 2nd week. I have been a fitness trainer and should be a great example. I struggle. I yo-yo badly. My biggest surprise is connecting to my body by breathing while I eat and calming down my emotions while I eat. I dont eat as much and Im full faster. I listen to what my body wants and I try to be totally present when I eat and not be distracted. Its hard to do all the time. Im an extreme over-stresser. This whole new idea to weight mgmt is improving my stress level. Im a work in progress on many levels and Im diggin it! Definitely am talking this program up to all I know. I have hypothyroid and a follower of Mary Shomon. Any suggestions that you have to help, I would love to hear it. Thanks!

    • Welcome Tammy. So happy to have you as part of the Pleasurable Weight Loss Community. Yo-yoing happens to all of us, especially under stress. you have the power to de-stress yourself but when you’re having a hard time, call a friend, take a nice hot bath or go for a walk somewhere that calms you and makes you smile.

  3. I have just discovered you Jenna, and am loving what you say. These are exactly the kinds of things I teach with my movement and cooking classes – only you are very much more elegant with your message! I do Nia Technique for exercise, and have been for 15 years. The whole reason I’ve stuck with it for this length of time is: Pleasure mixed with Joy and Fun. That there is a deep and complex science behind it just adds to the joy. I hope you’ve had the pleasure of this movement form. If not, find a class – it’s all over the world!
This week I have been instigating calm and conscious eating, as you have suggested. Wow, I have some bad habits (jumping up & down from meals – yikes)! I’m loving the small moments of complete peace I’m creating for myself. Thanks

  4. Jena.. excellent blog.. I must tell you that I 100% agree with your statement that “Exercise equals fun” Why because I am 155 pounds, 182.88 cm (6 feet) and guess.. I am 27 years girl. I very much control and concentrate on diet. And you what, when I see cheese pizza with large coke.. I really jumping up and down as u said.. 🙂 Jokes apart I very much scarifies for getting slim as every girl want to see in front of mirror.

Honestly, exercise (work out) and diet make me really fit mean while I used green tea and energy drink instead of getting food in lunch.
